You may have noticed our recent arrival of waterproof raincoats, boots and hats ... Well, let us introduce you to the Brand ...
Living in one of the wettest places in the world, Norwegians Karine Lunde and Ros-Mari Gaundal were frustrated that they couldn’t find a coat that was windproof and waterproof while still being stylish ...
During one of their evening strolls (crawls) up mount Fløyen, Ros-Mari asked her friend Karine if she had any difficulty finding a nice coat to wear in Bergen's wet weather; one that did not look like typical rainwear or the “allværsjakke” people often end up wearing in Norway.
Karine had to admit that it was difficult finding a 'stylish' waterproof coat that she liked...
And so, the friends, together with their extensive design and business experience, decided to tackle the problem head-on ...
BRGN was born

So, Tell Me More About The Technology ...
BRGN coats have a waterproof rating of 20.000mm. This means they can withstand heavy rain and even a high-pressure water hose. Jackets are considered waterproof under normal pressure when they are over 10.000mm ...
All of BRGN's coats and jackets are treated with ECO DWR treatment. DWR stands for Durable Water Repellent. It is the DWR treatment that keeps the outer layer of your fabric from getting soaked by precipitation. The treatment is meant to keep the fabric from becoming saturated with water - which is ordinarily what makes fabrics feel heavier, colder, and impacts performance.
All coats have taped seams so that the water can not enter through the seams.
YKK zippers are made by a Japanese company, and they self-lubricate the more you use them. You'll notice that other brands of zippers become sticky and gritty over time. Not with YKK - They will feel more smooth, the more you use them. YKK are world renowned for being the best zips on the market.
The magnetic buttons are there to make it easier to close the jacket and cover up the zipper so that water does not enter through there either. Also - no faff when you're in a burry!
The jackets can handle the wind just as good as water.
BRGN jackets are also made with a breathable membrane to make them possible to wear regardless of the weather. The latest models are breathable 15.000, making them breathable enough to track up a mountain. So if you need to run for the bus or catch the train, we got you!
Hidden hood in collar
All of our jackets have a way of hiding or detaching the hood. So that you can go from casual to classy real quick. And don't worry, they aren't just a last minute addition, all BRGN hidden hoods are full sized and waterproof.
All coats have a discreet reflective logo on the back and the waist-belts are reflective at the end-points.
Sustainability and Cost Per Use
Sustainability is one of Mademoiselle Mojo's core principles and something we constantly consider and think about. Our aim as a small business is to embrace the slow fashion movement and reject fast fashion. The fashion industry thrives on newness and consumption, paradoxical to sustainability. We love all our brands because they match our values when it comes to sustainability. BRGN in particular pride themselves on doing 'everything in (their) power to ensure that (they) combat this.'
Slow fashion is the idea that we buy less, and buy with the intention of something lasting a long time. It encourages slower production, unifies sustainability with ethics, and ultimately invites consumers to invest in well-made, long-lasting clothes. Something important to consider when purchasing an item is, “will I actually use this?”
It is far better to spend more money on something that will last a long time, as opposed to buying lots but sacrificing on quality.
Cost Per Use
One way to determine whether or not something is worth purchasing is by calculating the cost per use. For example, on average it rains in Bergen 239 days per year, (England averages 170 -a whole lot of rain!) The BRGN YR Coat costs 3999 NOK (£349), which means that if you used it for one year and only wore it on the rainy days, the cost per use would be 16.72 NOK (or 1.38 GBP). Of course, then consider you will use it for much longer than a year -and will likely wear in on sunny days too! This is something to consider when investing slightly more on a high quality item.
